Originally from Perth, Jo Beth Taylor burst onto the music scene in the early 1980s as a singer and entertainer, before Ian “Molly” Meldrum signed her to his Melodian Records in 1989.
In 1990, Taylor toured with another Melodian group Indecent Obsession who were touring with U.S. star Debbie Gibson on an Australian tour, and was invited to fly to the U.S, in which Taylor recorded her debut album 99 Reasons, with Gibson contributing to at least four songs.
In 1991, Taylor recorded the single 99 Reasons and entered the ARIA charts at Number 84 in July. It reached as high as Number 31, staying in the charts for 15 weeks.
