Fresh from the success of Australia’s first type of reality show – ABC & BBC’s Sylvania Waters in 1992, the Sydney suburban housewife Noeline Donaher and husband Laurie became household names after showing their ‘larger than lifestyle’ offerings. Drinking, chain-smoking, family arguments – it was all there. (You can watch the series here, if you choose to).
The show was a huge success in Australia and the UK, and the following year, Noeline kept cashing in on her popularity by releasing a pop-dance tune No Regrets.
Far from the soft rock stylings of the Walker Brothers song original from 1975, Donaher’s version – complete with a cheesy music clip and cliche Australiana features – did not chart at all.
It goes well with Noeline’s diary.
