Update: Dumb and Dumber To- Is it horrible already?

As you may have seen the first trailer for Dumb and Dumber To has arrived, the sequel taking place 20 years after the original. I am very skeptical about this sequel, as it’s my opinion that most sequels suck, and despite my appreciation for good ol’ Lloyd and Harry, I am content with the lowest point in the franchise being the prequel Dumb and Dumberer…

After watching the trailer I admit to being neutral at this point, which is good. Based on the trailer I am a little nervous that this movie is simply an updated version of the original using slightly new spins on the same jokes but I am going to wait to see the entire movie before I judge. I will also admit to having a very good guess on how the movie will end and if I am right it is not the end of the world.

Here is the entire plot summary from IMDB:

“20 years after the dimwits set out on their first adventure, they head out in search of one of their long-lost children in the hope of gaining a new kidney.”

In addition this movie dives into the relationship Harry had with Fraida Felcher and their love child. I am super happy they have Kathleen Turner playing Fraida, she’s such a fun actress and totally fits the image I had in my head of what older Fraida would look like and sound like.  It also looks like they’ve secured a line-up of  hot eye candy actresses for the guys to drool over, with Angela Kerecz as a waitress (probably to recreate a diner scene), Walking Dead’s Laurie Holden and Lauren Henneberg (it would be awesome if in this movie they were both zombies, fingers crossed), and Rachel Melvin as the love child Penny Pichlow.

It is also good to see that Harry is as clueless as ever and Lloyd has maintained his rapist wit! The guys are definitely 20 years older; both actors have aged appropriately which adds a new creepy/perverted factor that was not completely present in the original.

With a current release date of November 14th we have a bit more waiting to do and I would imagine we would see the release of another teaser trailer. In the meantime do yourself a favor and re-watch Dumb and Dumber, and burn (as in with fire) a copy of Dumb and Dumberer. 😉
