It’s still the Australian version of ‘Girl Power’ when the five-piece group Girlfriend are smashing out tracks for the music charts in the early 1990s.
Heartbeat was the sixth song to be released by the all girl pop group, having four hits from 1992, and a semi-weak hit for 1993 with Love’s On My Mind (which reached as high as Number 68). When Heartbeat was released from their second studio album It’s Up To You, the track debuted at Number 75 on the ARIA charts, and going as high as Number 36, staying in the charts for 12 weeks.
If you watch the video clip, you might even spot someone who resembles future Australian TV / Movie star Adam Garcia!
