The Man-Child from W.A. embraces the YouTube world with show highlights.
Stand-up comedian Rove McManus dominated late night variety television through the millennial transition. Hey Hey It’s Saturday wrapped up on Channel 9 after 28 years in 1999, and McManus popped up late at night on the same network under his show Rove. While Rove started community television under the title The Loft Live, Channel 9 picked up the show for 10 episodes, before it was not renewed. Channel 10 jumped at the opportunity and slapped McManus and his mates Peter Helliar, Corinne Grant and Dave Callan to a 9:30pm time slot on a Tuesday night.
With title changes – Rove [Live], Rove (Live) and Rove – as well as cast changes, the show received solid ratings over the 10 year period. There was a small hiatus late 2006 when McManus’ wife Belinda Emmett passed away from cancer, but McManus surged on in 2007. In 2009, he decided to pull the plug,
While there was a DVD compilation of his 10 episodes from Channel 9 and a few albums with tracks from guest performers released, there weren’t any episodes available.
But the good people at Roving Enterprises have been drip-feeding highlights onto their own YouTube channel.
