An experimental electronic band from Sydney score a hit from sampling some creepiness.
From the 1984 album Since The Accident, the electronic band from Sydney Severed Heads released the track Dead Eyes Opened. A pure dance routine with sampling lifted from the British series The Scales Of Justice by Edgar Lustgarten, the tune was a surprise hit, as it was purely used as ‘filler’ on the album.
In 1994, Dead Eyes Opened was remixed and re-released again, with a modern underlay to fit with dance style at the time. It reached Number 16 on the ARIA charts.
To hear the original Lustgarten narration in the raw, it sounds even more creepier.
