There’s always a dream destination you set yourself in life where you would love to visit. Sometimes it might be near impossible because of health, fear and safety reasons. In this case, it’ll downright kill you if you touch anything.
David ‘Christo’ Christopher and Dion Waite are two childhood friends who do a lot of activities together, such as starting their own clothing label Brown Park Clothing Co. which started out as an initiative to push life out of the shades of brown and beige and motivate yourself to step outside your comfort zone.
In 2019, the duo flew from their safety of their homes in Australia and travelled to Pripyat – the home of Chernobyl and the world’s most catastrophic nuclear disaster. In 1986 the power plant exploded and spread radioactive material into the air, contaminating everything it touched nearby with hazardous material with a half life of 25,000 years. This resulted in causing mass evacuations, as well as thousands of deaths and poisonings of the people in the Ukraine. That’s the TL;DR.
Since the event, the power station has been serviced and repaired, such as a new state-of-the-art sarcophagus placed over the top of the emergency concrete one thrown together in the 1980s, and slowly dismantling things on the inside. While nature has reclaimed the city of Pripyat, the buildings and objects have remained undisturbed – due to the fact everything is highly radioactive. Tour guides have been put in place, pretty much for the people who want to check out derelict and abandoned porn.

Exploring within legal boundaries and with a professional tour guide by their side, what makes this 21 minute documentary a little different from the thousands of others is that Christo and Dion give the footage a more personal experience, just like you’re hanging around next to them…
