Nowadays you will know him as the lead singer of rock band Thirsty Merc, with hits In The Summertime, Wasting Time and Emancipate Myself, in the mid 2000s. But did you know Rai Thistlethwayte hit the charts before then?
Known under his first name, Rai released a pop track in 2000 called Give A Smile To The Planet. When you listen to it, youll realise it didn’t completely set the world on fire.
Give A Smile To The Planet failed to crack the Top 40, and eventually Rai re-invented himself as a rocker, becoming an Aussie rock icon in 2003 with Thirty Merc.
