Late October 2024 was a trip for the books! My mate Kris and I decided to take on an epic adventure, swapping the Aussie spring for the American fall. We packed our bags, hopped on a plane, and found ourselves in the States, ready to road trip from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and back. Two 40-something-year-olds embracing the open road—it was equal parts nostalgia and thrill.
One of the major highlights of our adventure was the sports. If there’s one thing America knows how to do well, it’s creating an unforgettable game-day experience. Our first stop was Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara to watch the San Francisco 49ers take on the Dallas Cowboys. The energy in the stadium was electric. From the tailgating festivities outside to the roar of the crowd during every big play, it was the kind of experience that leaves you buzzing long after the game ends.
But the sports-fueled adventure didn’t stop there. We made our way back to L.A. for some ice hockey action at Crypto dot com Arena, where the Vegas Golden Knights squared off against the L.A. Kings. The fast-paced intensity of the game, combined with the arena’s pumped-up atmosphere, was exhilarating. It was a night where the cold of the rink clashed beautifully with the warmth of cheering fans.
And just when we thought things couldn’t get any better, we realized we were in the U.S. during one of its most iconic sporting events: the World Series! Though we didn’t manage to attend a game in person, just being in the country while the baseball fever was in full swing was enough to make us feel part of the excitement. Watching the highlights from local sports bars with passionate fans was an experience in itself.
Here’s to road trips, sports, and making memories that last a lifetime!
