Back To The Power Laces

by Matt Fulton September 9, 2011
written by Matt Fulton September 9, 2011

It’s not 2015, yet.

It’s been a childhood dream if you’re a fan of the Back To The Future trilogy. In Back To The Future Part II, Marty McFly (Michael J Fox) is taken to the year 2015 with his scientist friend Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) to help Marty’s family in the future. Upon setting himself up for it, he dons the futuristic Nike Power Laces.

In the real world, they are only a prop. However, Nike have gone one step further for charity. Uploaded by DocEmmettBrown888, the teaser footage shows a camera slowly crawling into Marty McFly’s closet.

Oooo!!! Where can I get a pair of these??

First of all, they’re called The 2011 Nike MAG. They’ve been designed to replicate the shoes in the film. However, they aren’t going to be released in stores. They will be auctioned on ebay for 10 days, to raise money for the Michael J Fox Foundation, in order to have funding for Parkinsons Disease research. Fox is/was on The Late Show with David Letterman to promote the shoes and auction.

One more thing – the shoes are sans power laces. Sorry.

Update: Ebay Auctions, Official site
