Trailer: Sonic The Hedgehog

A brand new trailer has been released for the silver screen debut of the world’s favourite blue furball – Sonic The Hedgehog.

Based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, Sonic The Hedgehog tells the story of the world’s speediest hedgehog as he embraces his new home on Earth. In this live-action adventure comedy, Sonic and his new best friend Tom (James Marsden) team up to defend the planet from the evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his plans for world domination. The family-friendly film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.

While his creators hit a speed bump last year and caused ‘internet outrage’ that Sonic’s visualisation was too human, off-character AND had a lacklustre trailer that rode heavily on a mid ’90s RnB hit song, the people at Paramount went back to the drawing board.

It looks like it worked. There’s plenty of YouTube videos out there who draw comparison to the new vs old style, but we’ll let your fingers do the walking.

Sonic The Hedgehog – in cinemas February 13, 2020.
