The Evening Cast: Lake

The Evening Cast – Lakes EP

“Absolutely extraordinary!’

That was the straight-up description from multi-award winning Australian musician Clare Bowditch, after listening to the five-piece Indie/Pop group The Evening Cast.

Consisting of brothers Joel and Paul Cooper, with Joel’s wife Rachel and friends Rod Grinter and Ash Trickey, The Evening Cast have released Lake – a 7 track EP that consists of delightful melodies that aren’t too heavy and not too light.

Beginning with the single Knots And Bows, the catchy rock tune tells you what you’re in for. The harmonic vocals are delicious with the guitar and drums. Just watch the video for the acoustic version and you’ll know what I mean.

Track two Surprise is an extremely beautiful song, where every single note is complimented without drowning each other out. Factory, Track four on Lakes is probably the closest you can describe to their heavy tones, which is so melodic, it’s gorgeous. Heartbeat lives up to the name, with a beat line that resembles the tone of its description. To me, it’s the favourite and more stronger song of the EP.

If you’re after a change of scenery where you can enjoy a blend of rock, pop and a touch of folk that’s not insulting, Lakes is your answer.

The Evening Cast are starting on the Lake tour just before Christmas, so check the guide below to see if they’re in your area.
