While we are all given the opportunity to let our hair down once in a while by bellowing our tonsils down an omnidirectional microphone, when it comes from a person in the public eye, it’s more entertaining.

Exhibit A: former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

While I try and steer clear from any type of political bits and pieces, this takes the cake for ‘it’s not me, it’s you’. Karaoke is meant to be fun, and not to be taken too seriously. At a christmas party held by the National Party, the former PM decided to hop on stage and crank out a little Elvis Presley with Suspicious Minds. But it’s not the first time politicians have attempted to sing. Who could forget former Treasurer Peter Costello taking the mickey out of MP and former Midnight Oil lead singer Peter Garrett by quoting lyrics from their song Beds Are Burning.
