After much speculation, it’s finally coming to the Land Down Under.
Disney‘s answer to Netflix and Stan – Disney Plus (Disney+) is touching down November 19, 2019.
So, what is Disney+ ? It’ll be a subscription based streaming video-on-demand service purely supplying the extensive Disney television and movie library – old and new stuff. Presently in Australia, consumers have to subscribe to a combination of Stan, Netflix, and catch random screenings on free-to-air channels like GO! and 7Flix. But Disney+ promises is to have it all in one location, including all the Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars collection, National Geographic, and fresh new content such as the Marvel TV spin-offs Loki, WandaVision, and Falcon & The Winter Soldier, not to forget the Star Wars spin-off The Mandalorian.
Oh… and possibly The Simpsons! (will have to get back to you on that one as it’s a grey area for Australia).
Australian consumers can subscribe for $8.99AU a month or $89.99AU yearly – with Disney+ becoming available on nearly all mobile, Gaming and connected TV devices, such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, Roku and Sony.
No word yet on what’s happening with the current distribution with Foxtel & Stan‘s licence, as well as the licence for ESPN on Foxtel and Fetch TV. But
