TVTV COOKING

Come And Get It

When it comes to iconic cooking shows, there’s one that always stands out from the rest.

comengetittitTelevision cooking shows these days are a dime a baker’s dozen (see what I did there?). But there was a particular one that stood out from the rest.

ABC’s Come & Get It was a five minute cooking show hosted by prominent Chef Peter Russell-Clarke. Within the short time frame, Russell-Clarke would be out and about, or interviewing people of various platforms or statures. Along with these interviews, he would demonstrate how to cook or prepare a particular meal.

The show ran for nine years throughout the 1980s, which always began with a caricature of himself and his catchphrase “G’Day!”. Russell-Clarke also became an ambassador for Australian Eggs, as well as promoting Australian cheese brand Coon.

Unfortunately you’ll have to rely on YouTube for episodes dubbed from the general public.

Not to forget, Russell-Clarke became a household name to the YouTube generation ever since a blooper reel showing his true amusing colours popped up.

Russell-Clarke is still active, and you can see his artwork and recipes at PeterRussellClarke.com.au
