Trailer: Rampage

Those 8 bit giant monsters go hi-res for the big screen with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Straight from a writers desk of Warner Bros Pictures comes a film which was probably thought of when they found their old Nintendo Entertainment System in the garage of their parents place to play one lonely Saturday night and discovered they couldn’t plug a coaxial connection into an HDMI port onto their OLED TV… gaaaasp!

Not that it’s a bad thing or anything. But when you have video games that are converted for a blockbuster film (Super Mario Bros, anyone?) and they just haven’t gone down right, what’s the risk of it happening again?

This time, we have the CGI for it…

Rampage – based on the 1986 MAME game of the same name (hey.. it’s rhymes!) we have primatologist Davis Okoye (Johnson) who develops a loving caring friendship with an albino gorilla named George which he rescues from the wild. Down the track, George ends up being contaminated by a mysterious gas chemical which increases growth at a rapid pace, in which George eventually breaks out and runs loose in public – but not without some sidekicks – like a giant wolf and some type of large dragon. (Just like the game!)

Rampage the film actually looks half decent. Plus with N̶e̶g̶a̶n̶ Jeffrey Dean Morgan along for the ride, this looks like it’ll have insurance companies sweat in their shoes.

Rampage is due out April 20, 2018. Until then, enjoy the classic game vision.
