My Geek Culture visited Supanova Pop Culture Comic and Gaming Expo, at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, April 2022.
The annual event tours around Australia, and gives a beautiful reason for the general public to share their love and passion and express themselves in various shapes and forms for their love of pop culture. Cosplaying as a mainstream character, or something more obscure to an internet comic – someone will get your reference and praise you for your costume efforts. It is a multi-billion dollar industry, after all. A time to unite and share creativity.

Each event invites various guests from TV, movies, literature, animation, gaming, voiceovers, where it gives you a chance to get up close and personal (within reason) to have a one-on-one chat, autograph or photo. At this particular event, Wolf Creek‘s John Jarratt, Mortal Kombat’s Josh Lawson, and Star Wars’ Temuera Morrison and others were on offer.

The Market stalls hosted many independent stores ranging from Artists selling their art, jewellery, trinkets, and costume accessories. Here at My Geek Culture, we thought it’ll be cool to chat to you – the cosplayer – about what you’re wearing and ask the hard-hitting questions.
