The original 1999 American Pie cast is back for perhaps the final piece of warm apple pie.
The highly successful Generation Y comedy had spawned a successful trilogy, only to be diluted by the movie studios with its endless spin-off sequels from American Pie: Band Camp (the original number four) onwards. To make sure the future direct-to-dvd sequels were all attached, Eugene Levy, who played Jim’s Dad, starred in every single one. Also, each new character was related to Steve Stifler(Sean William Scott) in the first three. The main protagonist, Jim (Jason Biggs) was only mentioned in minor updates by Jim’s Dad in each film. The franchise started losing the original cast members from American Pie: The Wedding (third film) onwards.
With all the original American Pie cast signed on, could this be a pleasant reunion, for the teens grown up to be adults now (such as myself)? We’ll find out in 2012.
