Binge Classic Aussie Drama Now

Water Rats.

Where: 9Now

It’s a tough life living on the water. In this case – it’s tough being a police officer patrolling Sydney Harbour.

From 1996 to 2001, Australia followed the life and times of the Sydney Water Police, while enjoying a view of the scenery over 6 seasons and 177 episodes.

Where can I buy the boxset: The DVDs from an early release years ago are rare as hens teeth, but Via Vision have re-released the series in two ways – as a complete 45 DVD boxset, and a 24 DVD set containing the first 4 volumes with commentary.

McLeod’s Daughters.

Where: 9Now

Set at “Drover’s Run” – a cattle station in rural South Australia, we follow the lives of two half-sisters who inherit the property from their deceased father. With an all-female leading cast, the show was a major hit for 8 seasons and 224 episodes for Channel 9, with many Logie nominations and wins to boot from 2001 to 2009.

Where can I buy the boxset: There was a 52 DVD boxset of the entire series, as well as the seasons selling separately (Season 7 and Season 8 are the only ones we could find at the moment), but they appear to be rare or out-of-print. Best to check eBay.
