X-Files Goes Audio Form

by Matt Fulton April 11, 2017
written by Matt Fulton April 11, 2017

The X-Files cast reunite again for a whole new chapter.

The cult phenomenon that is The X-Files never ceases to amaze. From 1993 to 2002, the sci-fi horror TV series rotated around the adventures of FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson), on a mission to expose the truth. From government cover-ups, UFOs, aliens, supernatural and the unexplained, Mulder and Scully fought and defied the odds and constantly fighting against ‘the man’… being the Cancer Man / Cigarette Smoking Man / C G B Spender (William B Davis) with their supervisor Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) backing them all the way.

While the original run of the TV series ran for 9 seasons, 2 feature films, alongside comic books, spin-off shows and paperback novels, 20th Century FOX brought back the series for a short 6 episode run of season 10 in 2016, which finished up on one hell of a cliff-hanger and leaving the doors open for a season 11. However, nothing yet has come to fruition, with unconfirmed reasons of insider politics to adjusting to shooting schedules for the main cast. But never say never.

While The X-Files received a ‘Season 10’ re-boot in comic book form as well as a ‘Season 11’ and more graphic novels, the stories are separate to the continuity that appear in the television form. So, while we eagerly await season 11 of The X-Files TV mythology, the good people at Audible.com are bring the team back together: Mulder, Scully, Spender, Skinner, and including The Lone Gunmen (Bruce Harwood, Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund) for The X-Files: Cold Cases – for your ears.

The X-Files: Cold Cases audio book will be available from July 18, 2017 via Audible.com/xfiles
