Mankind is on the verge of extinction, in a new mission for Mulder and Scully.
The trailer for the new Season 11 of The X-Files has hit the interwebs, thanks to the launch screening at New York Comic-Con, and it appears to have picked up exactly where the 2016 cliffhanger left us.
In the very end of the resurrected Season 10, Scully (Gillian Anderson) is staring at the light coming from some type of UFO, while Mulder (David Duchovny) and the rest of the world lay dying from an alien-developed virus which the undead Cigarette Smoking Man / Cancer Man / C.G.B. Spender (William B. Davis) has the push-button control over. While searching for the cure, Scully has discovered the only way to help Mulder, is to find their half human / half alien son, William – who happens to be in hiding.
This is where Season 11 kicks off… with the gang back together again.
Created by Chris Carter, The X-Files ran for 9 seasons from 1993 to 2002, with 2 feature films in 1998 and 2008, alongside novels, comic books, audio books and plenty of merchandise to boot.
In 2015, 20th Century Fox brought back The X-Files for a 6 episode Season 10 run, with thunderous applause from the dedicated fan base.
Season 11 of The X-Files will screen possibly sometime early 2018.
