In an effort to drum up internet banter for the next installment in the DC Comics Cinematic Universe, an extended video of Aquaman has been released to do just that.
From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be…a king.
In this 5 minute and 12 second video (minus the title and credit tag which pushes it to 5 minutes and 17 seconds), we see what will be the origin of Arthur Curry – soon to be Aquaman – heading out to the Sahara Desert with his aquatic girlfriend Mera (Amber Heard) where there’s zero water, and unearth the encyclopedia of Atlantis in a video diary with a projection of Graham McTavish talking about a powerful trident. From there, we see flashes of underwater things, other Atlantic counterparts and family members (glimpses of Nicole Kidman and Dolph Lundgren), a crustacean war, and a run-and-chase sequence that is one of possibly many signature visual action sequences this film contains.
Directed by James Wan, could Aquaman steer the DC Universe back in line after a bumpy track run? We’ll find out when it hits cinemas from December 21, 2018.
